Digital Radiography
Presidio Way Veterinary Hospital uses digital radiography to help diagnose health conditions inside your pet’s body. Digital radiography is more eco-friendly and allows us to instantly see if a slightly different view is needed. The images are digital so they can easily be enlarged to show fine detail and they are simple to transmit. If we need the assistance of a specialist to interpret a radiograph, the image can be sent within minutes.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound lets the veterinarians at Presidio Way Veterinary Hospital “see” inside your pet. Because ultrasound uses sound waves to make an image, we can assess the condition of an organ, such as the heart or kidneys, with this totally non-invasive procedure that does not require anesthesia.
Ultrasound is an important diagnostic tool for chest and abdominal issues. When blood tests are inconclusive or we suspect a blockage or cancer, ultrasound can give us a look at the area. Cultures, biopsies, or needle aspirates can also be obtained with ultrasound guidance for further diagnostic evaluation. If we find a mass or growth that we suspect to be cancer and can test it quickly, we can begin chemotherapy faster, giving your pet a better chance at a good outcome.
When a heart problem is diagnosed or suspected, a cardiac ultrasound can evaluate the inner chambers and show how the heart is functioning. We use measurements to determine when cardiomyopathy is present. Diagnosing this condition allows us to prescribe the medications needed to return the heart to optimum function.
